The thermostatic shower is quite a high-end item and probably the best option if money were not an issue. It comprises of an internal adjustment mechanism which can alter the temperature by flow adjustment automatically. It is a great way of not getting scalded and makes for a comfortable experience. However, there are some options for the controls, pipework connections and the material specifications. Harringay Plumbers can fit all types of mixer showers.

First Option:
For this particular unit, the pipes are hidden in the wall. The valve consists of two rotary dials, with one for the temperature setting, and the other to control the flow of water from it’s ‘off’ position all the way through to it’s maximum flow rate. This is really a very sensible option when the wall is a hollow partition wall, or if it is made from plasterboard. If you want to fit this type on solid walls, you will have no choice but to channel the wall and make good with plaster. A Harringay Plumber is trained to fit showers.

Second Option:
Just about everything on this type is chrome plated, even the feed pipework, the showerhead and the body of the mixer unit. This style of fit is suitable for solid or partition walls. Be aware that the hot feed pipe will get very hot and should not be touched so maybe it should be avoided if you have younger kids or if the homeowner is an older person. The controller for this shower can also be in the form of a rotary dial or even an all in one joystick, the stick lifts to turn the water on, and moved left and right to alter the temperature. The chrome finish on the mixer unit does show lime scale and salt deposits so it will need to be cleaned off regularly to keep the high shine finish.
