There are two basic kinds of pipes installed in the houses: the metallic ones and the plastic ones. The metallic pipes require other kinds of fixtures and connections in comparison to the plastic ones. The most common method of connecting metallic pipes is welding. This is a slightly dangerous method that uses heat and pressure to connect two pipes together. The process involves filler which emits fire through its nozzle. If two metallic pipes are placed together and the filler is used to burn ends of two pipes, the metal connects automatically as their edges burn and are joined together by force. There are a lot of sparks which emit in this process and the plumbers are supposed to wear protective masks and gloves in doing so.
In order to connect two plastic pipes together, the plumbers have to use the method of solvent welding. This method is similar to welding but the only different is that there is a solvent involved. This solvent is poured down on the edges of two pipes. This solvent melts the plastic pipes and they are then joined together by push. This method requires a lot of handling and direction because only a limited amount of solvent is supposed to be poured down on the pipes. The plumbers are supposed to wear protective gloves and cover all skin.
